Baby Story
On July 18 I woke up to my alarm at 5 am and started getting ready to go and waiting impatiently for my phone to ring... 5:30 the phone rings, the hospital is ready for us, I grab my stuff, tell my sleeping little boy goodbye and head out the door. By 7 I am hooked up to the potocin and ready to start the process... Noon rolls around and I'm only at 3 cm so the nurses and the resident doctor decide they will break my water to see if it can go any faster for me. but first I say "I don't want my water broken till I have the epidural, I'd rather not feel anything :)" so around 1 after the epidural kicked in they break my water, they had a hard time getting to it cause I wasn't dilated enough so they used the internal heart monitor to break it and then left it to monitor the baby's heart better. 4pm and I'm at 7cm the nurse kept scaring me cause after every contraction she came in and checked the baby, after a couple times of her doing that she said " the baby's heart rate goes down during every contraction" so she put another monitor on the baby's head to make sure she was ok. I was starting to get eager and sooo hungry every time Matt would ask if there was anything he could do for me I would start naming any food that came to mind that sounded good, " Steak, hamburger, yogurt" I also was starting to feel the contractions harder and harder so I had to get an extra dose of the epidural from the anaesthesiologist 20 min later around 5 I felt a LOT of pressure so I called the nurse in and told her she needs to check me. She looked at me like there was nothing to worry about, until she checked me she said "OH!" and I laughed cause I knew the reason for her reaction, her head was crowning. She told me to keep my legs together and breath slow through every contraction until my doctor arrived 10 min later my doctor came through the door panting and saying " I was at the checkouts at Costco and drooped everything and ran.. You don't even want to know how I drove to get here." I tried not to laugh cause I was afraid I'd laugh the baby out. Six contraction pushes later out came a tiny little baby and they put her right on me, the first thing I say is "its a girl right?" and had to see for myself. haha I couldn't believe how small she was 5lbs 15oz. 18 1/2 inches.
Adams first time seeing her he gave her a bunch of kisses it made me so happy that he wasn't bothered by me holding a baby it was as if it was a normal thing.
